Our Work

Rosewood / Stevenson University Sports Complex

Contracted to help transform the former Rosewood Mental Hospital into Stevenson University’s state-of-the art sports complex, Utilities Unlimited is responsible for the construction of underground water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure, along with numerous stormwater management facilities, underground cast-in-place concrete sand filters, and double box culverts for future roadways.

The 110+ acre Rosewood Center property was originally established as a residential asylum and training school for the mentally disabled in 1888 and was in operation until 2009 when it was closed by State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Using state grants, Stevenson University has been remediating the abandoned land and developing it into what will be known as their Owings Mills East campus — the university’s new athletic and recreational hub.

As a company we’re growing, but Utilities Unlimited is still run like a tight-knit, family-owned operation. Employees aren’t a number here. We’re more like friends and family than coworkers and I always feel appreciated. Everyone is accessible and easy to talk to, even the owners, who are open to input and supportive of employees progressing in their careers. That’s important to me.

-  CJ K., Superintendent, Joined Utilities Unlimited in March 2021

After working some seasonal projects with Utilities Unlimited, I gave up my own business to stay on full time. They provided a good, consistent paycheck, stability for family, and good insurance benefits. Plus, it felt like family here which made me happy – and being happy to go to work means more than anything.

I love the crew I’m with – they feel like family. Plus, our equipment is really nice and the shop is organized. I’m learning so much here and feel like I definitely have a good future with Utilities Unlimited.
